Meeting called to order at 3:00
A) COMMITTEE REPORT OUT
*Social Committee
*Safe & Civil Schools/Student Motivation
- Raffle cards launched during testing (for testing strategies, behavior)
– student receive IPOD – continue after testing
-redoing the TAKE CHARGE acronym – IB’ify this for learner profiles
-possible banners
*Awards Committee
-continue awards in evenings due to parent response and limit to one per grade level
-verify whether teachers will/will not be there – still voluntary
-honor roll in fall of next year-new 3.5-3.9 GPA
-possibly celebrate CST results (proficient & advance)? Daniza will bring back to committee

*ILT/Master Schedule
Bobbe – What is SGT’s role about after the reporting out?
Deb - raffle cards used during CST testing AND for regular behaviors?
Santos – not in favor of micromanaging committees; their goal is just to produce a product that will help motivate students; prolongs implementing procedures
Carmen – we need to make decisions
Bobbe – take back to staff
Mr. Olmstead – give subcommittees power to move things forward otherwise items will languish, with a long time to make a consensus
Jay – Ad Hoc committee will meet again to look at by-laws once again
Olmstead – next on the agenda should be “how to make our decisions”

All those in favor of Student Motivation/Safe & Civil Schools unveil the Rough Rider Cards for the this year – Unanimously YAY
Croom Motion to vote on whether to accept the recommendation made by the Awards Committee to have 2nd semester awards in the evening for this school only – Garcia seconds the motion. All those in favor

B) BY-LAWS AND ROLE OF SGT
-expanded on Mission Statement to make it more IB and make it internally consistent
-removed non-SGT matters, i.e.: budgetary matters, SSC
-Purpose – tightened the language
-changed 2/3 majority to simple majority for quorom and vote (50% + 1)
-Page 4, line 175 – language on “Committees” more specified
-SGT not an area for simple “venting” – concerns contained to areas revolving around IB/Students
-SGT and ILT will be merging and focusing on policies AND curriculum starting 2010-2011 school year.
-each department will need representation; members can volunteer, be voted in, whichever
-Roundtable – no more than 30 seconds or pass
-By-laws committee will have new recommendations for by-laws by May 4th meeting.
C. SCHOOL-WIDE DISCIPLINE POLICY
Carmen – ad hoc committee to write up a plan to better support our tier 3 kids (Tier 3 Ad Hoc); Safe & Civil Schools to support Tier 3 schools; Will this committee bring info back to SGT
Croom – algorithm formula for discipline – standardized consequences for all

Jay – East Coast trip May 16th-21st
ASB Rep – CASL Trip Thursday – Saturday
